Título: UNEXPECTED DIAGNOSIS OF ACINIC CELL CARCINOMA IN THE BUCCAL MUCOSA: A RARE MALIGNANCY IN AN ATYPICAL LOCATION

Resumo: A 64-year-old male patient presented with a five-year history of a small lump on the cheek. His medical history included lung adenocarcinoma. Clinical examination revealed a well-circumscribed nodular lesion located in the anterior buccal mucosa near the labial commissure. Ultrasonographic evaluation demonstrated a localized lesion and allowed assessment of its extension and proximity to the facial artery. Surgical excision of the lesion was performed, and the specimen was submitted for histopathological analysis. Microscopic examination established the diagnosis of acinic cell carcinoma. The patient was subsequently referred for oncologic evaluation and management. Acinic cell carcinoma is an uncommon malignant salivary gland neoplasm that predominantly arises in the parotid gland, while involvement of minor salivary glands is rare. Its occurrence in the buccal mucosa represents an atypical presentation and may pose a diagnostic challenge in the evaluation of nodular lesions of the oral cavity.
