Resumo: Plasma cell cheilitis is a rare, benign inflammatory disorder of the oral cavity, characterised by dense polyclonal plasma cell infiltrate in the submucosa. Reports are 9.5% lower for plasma cell cheilitis as opposed to the gingivitis counterpart. This case series reports two manifestations on the lower lip, one with an erosion and the other a red-white granular surface. Incisional biopsies were performed to provide histopathological confirmation of diagnoses. Further laboratory tests included the utilisation of immunohistochemistry to distinguish the condition from monoclonal plasma cell neoplasms. In addition serology was done to rule out infective (syphillis) aetiology and hypersensitivity reactions. Both cases were treated with topical corticosteroids. One case showed resolution and the other was refractory, highlighting the challenging management of this condition.
