Resumo: Stafne bone defect (SBD) is a developmental lingual mandibular bone concavity, typically asymptomatic and incidentally detected on radiographic examination. Five patients, predominantly men aged 35-50 years, were identified during routine panoramic radiographic examinations. Four cases presented as unilateral radiolucent defects located in the posterior mandible below the mandibular canal, predominantly on the left side. One patient exhibited bilateral defects. All lesions appeared as well-defined, round or oval radiolucencies with sclerotic borders. Diagnosis was established exclusively by panoramic radiography based on characteristic anatomical location and imaging features. No surgical intervention was indicated. Clinical and radiographic follow-up demonstrated lesion stability. Recognition of typical radiographic characteristics is essential to prevent unnecessary invasive procedures.
