Resumo: Objectives: To evaluate the effectiveness of a multidisciplinary protocol in preventing osteoradionecrosis (ORN) in head and neck cancer (HNC) patients following dental extractions in a high-radiation-dose area. The primary goal was to minimize the incidence of ORN and early bone exposure (EBE) post-extraction. Methods: This single-institution case series included 18 HNC patients who had undergone external beam radiotherapy (RT). The protocol involved a combination of antibiotics, leukocyte- and platelet-rich fibrin (L-PRF), and pentoxifylline. Dental extractions were performed and patients were followed for a median of 26 months. Descriptive statistics was used to analyze data. Results: A total of 93 dental extractions were performed. Early bone exposure (EBE) occurred in 9 extractions (9.7%). None of the patients developed ORN. Conclusions: The protocol was successful in preventing ORN following dental extractions in HNC patients.
