Título: Oral HPV Lesions as Immunological Markers in an HIV-Positive Patient: A Case Report

Resumo: Human papillomavirus (HPV) lesions are significant immunological markers in HIV-positive individuals, reflecting immunosuppression levels. HPV infections are more prevalent and persistent in people living with HIV, particularly those with low CD4 lymphocyte counts, leading to frequent and severe lesions, including genital warts, dysplasias, and anogenital or oral cancers. This case report describes a 48-year-old male, HIV-positive for 20 years due to injectable drug use, presenting multiple oral papillomatous lesions. Despite an undetectable HIV viral load achieved through effective antiretroviral therapy (ART), the patient's CD4 count remained low (150 cells/mm³). Over the past year, more than 50 oral papillomatous lesions were surgically removed, with histopathological analysis confirming HPV etiology. The persistence and recurrence of these lesions underscore their role as indicators of immunological status, highlighting the need for integrated clinical management, including regular CD4 count monitoring and HPV-related lesion surveillance, to optimize outcomes in HIV-positive patients.
