Resumo: Paracoccidioidomycosis (PCM) is a systemic mycosis prevalent in Latin America, often presenting with oral lesions in its chronic form. These lesions are typically infiltrative with a mulberry-like appearance. This study reports two cases diagnosed at a specialized center in Campo Grande, Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil. Patient 1, initially suspected of having squamous cell carcinoma, exhibited a painful lesion on the lower alveolar ridge. Patient 2, referred with suspected angioedema, had a lesion on the upper lip. Biopsies confirmed PCM in both cases, prompting referral to an infectious disease specialist. Due to delays in specialist consultation, itraconazole (200 mg/day) was initiated as interim treatment. These cases highlight the endemicity of PCM in Mato Grosso do Sul and underscore the pivotal role of primary care dentists in early recognition and diagnosis. Enhanced training for dentists is essential to improve outcomes in managing this regionally significant disease.
