Resumo: Oral leukoplakia is a potentially malignant lesion caused by excessive cell growth, generally characterized by white patches or plaques that cannot be scraped off. A 51-year-old female patient reported to the Dentistry Department of the University Anhanguera-Uniderp in Campo Grande, MS, Brazil, with a complaint of white patches on both right and left inner cheek mucosa. The lesions were white, asyntomatic, non scrapable, with measurements of approximately 3,0 cm x 2,0 cm and clinically suggestive of oral leukoplakia. The patient reported no exposure to oral cancer risk factors. An incisional biopsy was performed and the histopathological examination showed hyperplastic stratified squamous epithelium with intraepithelial inflammatory cell infiltration consistent with leukoplakia. The patient was properly instructed and referred for surgical treatment.
