Título: DENTAL STRATEGIES IN THE SUPPORTIVE TREATMENT OF PEMPHIGUS VULGARIS: A CASE REPORT

Nome do Apresentador: Gisele de Souza SILVA

Categoria do Trabalho: Painel de caso clínico (PCC)

Área Temática: Odontologia hospitalar

Resumo: A 50-year-old male smoker was referred for evaluation of oral lesions present for three months, with a previous oral biopsy compatible with pemphigus vulgaris, confirmed by skin direct immunofluorescence at our hospital. The patient presented with multiple blisters, ulcers, and hemorrhagic crusts on the skin, as well as extensive and painful oral ulcerations, limited mouth opening, and poor oral condition. Initial dental management included physical and chemical biofilm control, such as Antimicrobial Photodynamic Therapy using a methylene blue lollipop and red light (9 J/cm²/point). Photobiomodulation sessions were performed using red (1-2 J/cm²/point) and infrared light (4 J/cm²/point), and a mouth rinse with clobetasol propionate and nystatin was prescribed. Oral lesions that persisted were managed with intralesional betamethasone. Systemic pharmacological therapy was crucial for disease control and regression. The dentist's role within the multidisciplinary team was essential for managing oral lesions, relieving symptoms, and improving the patient's quality of life.
