Resumo: Osteosarcoma is a malignant bone neoplasm most common in long bones with only 6% occur in the gnathic bones. The average age is between 10 and 25 years. The five-year survival rate with treatment is 20%, and metastases occur in the lungs. Female patient, 13 years old, was referred for dental evaluation of a gingival lesion. Clinical examination revealed a sessile nodule on the gingiva adjacent to the lower right canine. The patient reported that the lesion began growing approximately one month ago, presenting as painless but prone to bleeding. An excisional biopsy was performed, and the specimen was submitted for histopathological analysis, which showed proliferation of irregular spindle-shaped cells associated with osteoid matrix formation, consistent with a diagnosis of osteosarcoma. The patient was referred to a pediatric oncology center, where she underwent chemotherapy and radiotherapy. She has been disease-free for 36 months to date.
