Título: L-PRF IN THE PREVENTION OF OSTEORADIONECROSIS OF THE JAWS: A CASE REPORT

Resumo: A 52-year-old leucoderma female patient sought oral and maxillofacial care for implant-based rehabilitation. During anamnesis, she reported a history of chemotherapy and radiotherapy in the head and neck region 12 years prior, for treatment of a nasopharyngeal tumor. Clinical examination revealed hyposalivation, fibrotic areas in the buccal mucosa and labial commissures, and residual roots of the maxillary left first and second premolars, mandibular left second molar, and mandibular right second molar. Due to the risk of osteoradionecrosis (ORN), atraumatic extractions were performed along with the application of leukocyte- and platelet-rich fibrin (L-PRF). Suturing was done with 3-0 nylon, and stitches removed after two weeks. Postoperative care included a 7-day course of 500 mg amoxicillin and gentle rinsing with 0.12% chlorhexidine. After 10 months of follow-up, the patient shows no clinical signs of ORN and is undergoing prosthetic rehabilitation with removable partial dentures for both maxillary and mandibular arches.
