Resumo: A 58-year-old female patient was referred to the oral diagnosis service at São Leopoldo Mandic for evaluation of a nodule on the right buccal mucosa. The lesion was asymptomatic, with normal mucosal coloration and reports of occasional serous or yellowish secretion, evolving over approximately one year. The patient had a medical history of type II diabetes and chronic smoking (30 years), and used hydrochlorothiazide and clonazepam. Initial diagnostic hypotheses included traumatic ulcer, mucocele, and salivary gland cyst. An excisional biopsy was performed using a scalpel, and the specimen was submitted for histopathological analysis. The report confirmed a salivary gland cyst (adenocyst). This case highlights the relevance of systematic diagnostic investigation of asymptomatic nodular lesions in the buccal mucosa and reinforces the essential role of histopathology in defining the final diagnosis and guiding appropriate clinical management.
