Resumo: Objective: To characterize the sociodemographic and clinicopathological profile of patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) treated at a High-Complexity Oncology Center (CACON).Methods: A retrospective cohort study was conducted with 155 individuals diagnosed between 2008 and 2018 at the Araújo Jorge Cancer Hospital (AJCH), approved by the Research Ethics Committee. Clinicopathological data were obtained from the Hospital Cancer Registry. Results: Most patients were male (63.9%), of mixed race (58.1%), and aged between 40-50 years. Tobacco and alcohol use were reported in 40% and 25.1% of cases, respectively. The main clinical findings included lymphadenopathy (61.3%) and nasal obstruction (21.3%). The most frequently requested imaging exams were neck CT scans (37.4%) and paranasal sinus CT scans (21.3%). The majority of tumors were staged as T4 (23.9%), N3 (21.9%), and M0 (46.5%). The predominant histological diagnosis was undifferentiated non-keratinizing carcinoma (42.6%), supported by immunohistochemical evaluation with AE1/AE3 (43.9%), P63 (29%), and CD45 (21.9%). Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) testing was performed in only 31 patients, with 45% testing positive. The most commonly indicated treatment was chemoradiotherapy (78.1%).Conclusion: NPC is often diagnosed at advanced stages, highlighting the need for earlier detection and routine EBV testing.
