Resumo: Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is a chronic autoimmune disease with multisystem involvement, often presenting with oral manifestations such as ulcerations and erythematous lesions. Although a definitive cure for SLE remains elusive, the condition can be effectively managed through immunosuppressive therapy and ongoing medical supervision. This report describes a 24-year-old female patient with chronic renal failure secondary to SLE, referred to the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Traumatology at the Federal University of Mato Grosso do Sul. Clinical examination revealed fibrinous areas and mucosal detachment in the left maxillary region, suggestive of necrotizing ulcerative gingivitis. Immediate management included mechanical debridement, photodynamic therapy, systemic antibiotics, and oral hygiene guidance, followed by multidisciplinary monitoring. This case highlights the importance of early identification of oral manifestations in systemic conditions and reinforces the role of dental professionals in the diagnosis and management of systemic complications.
