Título: ORAL PSORIASIS IN AN ELDERLY FEMALE: CASE REPORT WITH HISTOPATHOLOGICAL FINDINGS OF MUNRO MICROABSCESSES

Resumo: An 80-year-old female patient presented with a translucent white plaque on the dorsum of the tongue, as well as an ulcer on the floor of the mouth. She reported a burning sensation for the past five years, in addition to itching of the skin and scalp. In the oral cavity, the lesions appear cyclically and show partial remission with the use of laser therapy. After an incisional biopsy of the lesion on the tongue, histological sections revealed parakeratinized stratified squamous epithelium with significant acanthosis and club-shaped epithelial ridges. Neutrophilic exocytosis was observed below the parakeratin layer, with areas containing degenerated neutrophils (Munro microabscesses). In the connective tissue, there was a predominantly lymphocytic inflammatory infiltrate in a perivascular distribution. Thus, the findings were suggestive of psoriasis, and the patient was referred to the attending physician for further evaluation and correlation with other clinical and laboratory findings.
