Resumo: Ameloblastomas are benign odontogenic epithelial tumors characterized by slow growth, local aggressiveness, and a high recurrence rate. This report discusses the initial management of a 27-year-old melanoderm female patient presenting with an extensive mandibular ameloblastoma. Clinically, a swelling was noted in the left mandibular vestibule, slightly softened upon palpation. Imaging revealed a hypodense lesion measuring approximately 8 cm at its greatest dimension. Aspiration puncture yielded a yellowish, gelatinous content. To preserve the mandibular contour, treatment involved enucleation of the lesion combined with curettage, application of Carnoys solution as a sclerosing agent, and subsequent histopathological analysis, which confirmed the diagnosis of conventional ameloblastoma. The literature lacks consensus on the optimal therapeutic approach, underscoring the importance of individualized evaluation to determine the most appropriate treatment. Conservative methods, as described, have demonstrated effectiveness and are less invasive, contributing to the preservation of function and aesthetics, thereby enhancing the patients quality of life.
