Resumo: Objective: To evaluate the quality of information about oral cancer in Brazilian Portuguese provided by ChatGPT, Gemini and websites. Study Design: A search was carried out on Google, based on the question: "What is oral cancer?" The first 25 frequently asked questions were then extracted with the link to the website to which they were associated. The texts were evaluated using the DISCERN instrument. Another parameter used was the QUEST. The Flesch Index was used to evaluate the level of readability of the texts. Results: The responses from ChatGPT (80%) and Gemini (68%) showed moderate reliability, while 72% of the websites showed a high reliability index. The QUEST presented an average score of 9.96 for ChatGPT, 10.79 for Gemini, and 14.8 for the websites. The level of readability for the three sources was difficult. According to DISCERN (p=0.001) and QUEST (p=0.000), websites content presented greater reliability and quality. Conclusion: It is necessary to refine these AI models to provide references and express uncertainties in their content. Additionally, the participation of educational institutions and healthcare professionals is of great importance in developing quality standards and raising awareness among the population about the limitations of these new technologies.
