Resumo: Objective: This study aimed to assess university students' level of knowledge regarding electronic cigarettes and their harmful effects on the oral cavity. Study Design: A cross-sectional observational study was conducted from October 2023 to September 2024, involving 373 undergraduate students from various Higher Education Institutions, all over 18 years of age. Participants completed an online questionnaire consisting of 23 questions addressing personal information, electronic cigarette use, and its relationship with oral health. Data were analyzed using Jamovi® software through absolute and percentage frequency analysis. Results: Of the 371 valid responses (99.4%), 284 (76.1%) were female, and 198 (53.4%) were students in health-related fields, with a mean age of 24.6 years. Only 50 participants (13.4%) reported using electronic cigarettes. Knowledge assessment using a Likert scale revealed that 234 (62.7%) agreed that the health risks of electronic cigarettes are similar to those of traditional cigarettes; 211 (56.6%) acknowledged that the vapor produced contains a higher concentration of toxic substances, which may also affect non-users. Conclusion: It is concluded that health science students demonstrate a satisfactory level of knowledge regarding the impact of electronic cigarettes on oral health, underscoring the importance of preventive education.
