Resumo:
Pediatric oral pathology encompasses a diverse group of entities that range from exceedingly common to exquisitely rare. Congenital granular cell epulis (CGCE), is characterized by an uncommon benign lesion of unknown etiology that mainly affects the alveolar mucosa of fetuses and neonates, and can cause respiratory and feeding difficulties. Hamartomas are lesions that present an increase in volume and self-limiting growth and thus assume a congenital character, generally in regions close to the midline of the body. The present study aims to report two cases related to a Congenital Granular Cell Epulis (CSCE) and a Hamartoma, both of which occurred in healthy babies. These cases constituting a diagnostic challenge for which it was necessary to carry out a brief study and review of the literature on the subject with emphasis on the differential diagnosis and nature of these lesions as well as their implications for the health of newborns.
