Resumo: The dentigerous cyst is the most common developmental odontogenic cyst, typically associated with unerupted teeth, especially lower third molars. Clinically, it may be asymptomatic or cause pain and swelling in larger or infected cases. Radiographically, it appears as a well-defined unilocular radiolucent lesion. The usual treatment is enucleation with removal of the involved tooth, and the prognosis is generally favorable. This paper reports the case of an 8-year-old male patient presenting with pain and swelling in the posterior region of the right mandible. A CT scan revealed a 3.5 mm unilocular radiolucent lesion, compatible with a dentigerous cyst. An excisional biopsy was performed along with the placement of a drain. Histopathological examination confirmed the diagnosis. The patient remains under clinical follow-up, with satisfactory progress. The case highlights the importance of early diagnosis and appropriate treatment to prevent complications and promote a better prognosis.
