Título: IMPORTANCE OF CONE-BEAM COMPUTED TOMOGRAPHY IN THE DIAGNOSIS AND TREATMENT PLANNING OF HEMANGIOMA: A CASE REPORT

Nome do Apresentador: Júlia Serra de Lima CALDAS

Categoria do Trabalho: Painel de caso clínico (PCC)

Área Temática: Imaginologia dentomaxilofacial

Resumo: Hemangiomas are benign vascular lesions resulting from the abnormal formation of blood vessels, which can affect both soft tissues and bone structures of the orofacial region. They often present as swollen areas with variable coloration and, in more complex cases, may lead to aesthetic, functional, and anatomical alterations, including the presence of phleboliths - intravascular calcifications detected through imaging exams. This report describes the case of a 19-year-old male patient with a hemangioma on the left hemiface, previously treated with embolization, vessel ligation, and partial glossectomy. Cone-Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) played a crucial role in the three-dimensional assessment of the lesion, allowing for better visualization of the involved structures, identification of phleboliths, and individualized therapeutic planning. Thus, the importance of CBCT is emphasized as the method of choice for diagnosing orofacial vascular alterations, providing critical support for safer and more effective clinical and surgical approaches.
