Área Temática: Patologia Oral

Resumo: Objective: To analyze the clinicopathological profile of 65 head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) cases, focusing on different epidemiological groups and histological subtypes. Study Design: Clinicopathological data were collected from a Brazilian pathology service, classifying patients into five groups: (G1) ≤45 years with smoking and alcohol exposure; (G2) ≥45 years with HPV-associated tumors; (G3) ≤45 years without risk factors; (G4) ≥45 years without risk factors; and (G5) ≥45 years with smoking and alcohol exposure. Histological subtypes were categorized within each group, and survival analysis was conducted using the Kaplan-Meier method. Results: Patients were categorized into G1 (15), G2 (9), G3 (9), G4 (16), and G5 (16), predominantly male, except for G3 and G4. G3 had the youngest patients (31.7±4.49 years), while G4 had the oldest. Most tumors were in the oral cavity, with G2 having all oropharynx cases. G1 and G4 had the most advanced tumors. The tumors were primarily conventional, basaloid, and papillary. Most patients received surgery, radiotherapy (RT), and/or chemotherapy (CT), with G2 receiving only RT+CT. Survival rates were similar across the groups. Conclusion: This study provides clinicopathologic findings related to the new profiles of patients with HNSCC and important findings on the histological subtypes. Funding: FAPESP-2023/14770-4
