Título: AGGRESSIVE SQUAMOUS CELL CARCINOMA OF THE TONGUE

Resumo: We report the case of a 59-year-old female patient referred from an oral and maxillofacial surgery residency service, who was complaining of a lesion on the lateral border of the tongue, with swallowing and pain in the area and three months of evolution. Clinically, the lesion ulcerated with hardened and elevated borders, white colored and well circumscribed. Incisional biopsy was performed and the histopathological evaluation reported to be a squamous cell carcinoma with the worst possible pattern of invasion (WPOI). Further Immunohistochemical essay revealed P16 - and Ki-67 between 30%-40% of the cells, concluding the diagnosis of Moderately Differentiated Squamous Cell Carcinoma. The patient was referred to a specialized referral hospital in the region and is awaiting treatment.
