Título: ORAL PRESENTATION OF MULTIPLE MYELOMA DIAGNOSED BY THE CELL BLOCK TECHNIQUE: A CASE REPORT

Resumo: A 64-year-old white woman with no history of alcoholism, smoking, cancer, or prosthesis use presented with an intraosseous lesion in the right mandible, extending from teeth 43 to 46. Computed tomography revealed an ill-defined hypodense area with root resorption in a "knife-blade" pattern and perforation of the buccal and lingual cortical plates. Fine-needle aspiration was performed, and the sample was processed using the Cell Block technique. Cytologic evaluation showed a monoclonal proliferation of plasma cells at various stages of maturation. Immunophenotyping demonstrated that these cells were positive for kappa light chain and CD138, and negative for lambda light chain, CD20cy, Bcl-6, CD68, and CD3. A diagnosis of extramedullary plasmacytoma was promptly established, and the patient was immediately referred to a hematology service. A PET scan revealed additional skeletal lesions, confirming the diagnosis of multiple myeloma. The patient is currently undergoing treatment.
