Resumo: The dentigerous cyst is an odontogenic lesion associated with the follicle of an impacted tooth, typically affecting individuals aged 10 to 30. Although expansile, it is considered less aggressive than the odontogenic keratocyst, which shares similar clinical and radiographic features, highlighting the importance of differential diagnosis. This report presents an unusual case of a dentigerous cyst in a 1-year-old female patient, an exceptionally rare occurrence. The patient presented to the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Department of Federal University of Mato Grosso do Sul with a suspected maxillofacial tumor. Computed tomography revealed an osteolytic lesion in the body and ascending ramus of the left mandible. Due to the patients age, excisional biopsy under general anesthesia was performed, followed by cryotherapy. Histopathological examination confirmed the diagnosis. This case reinforces the need to consider dentigerous cysts even in atypical age groups to ensure accurate diagnosis and prevent inappropriate treatment.
