Resumo: Gingival fibromatosis is a rare condition characterized by a slow, progressive, enlargement of the keratinized gingiva. It affects both genders and may present in either a localized or generalized form. The condition may be hereditary, idiopathic, or associated with syndromes. A 47-year-old male presented with a complaint of gingival overgrowth with a progression for over five years. No relevant medical history was detected. Clinical examination revealed extensive bilateral overgrowth of the posterior maxillary and mandibular lingual gingiva. The gingival tissue was firm, smooth, normochromic, and asymptomatic, with some nodular-like areas, causing functional difficulties chewing and swallowing. The clinical diagnosis was gingival fibromatosis. An excisional biopsy was performed, and histopathological examination revealed oral mucosa composed of hyperplastic and acanthotic epithelium, overlying a densely collagenized fibrous connective tissue. The diagnosis was gingival fibromatosis. The patient was informed about the condition and referred for systemic evaluation to rule out any possible associated syndromes.
