Resumo: Erythema multiforme (EM) is an immune-mediated condition affecting the skin and mucosa, often triggered by infections or medications. It presents as targetoid lesions and ulcerations, with herpes simplex virus (HSV) and Mycoplasma pneumoniae being the most frequent causes. This case report describes a 10-year-old girl who, after a dental procedure, developed fever, sore throat, and subsequently ulcerated, swollen lips with skin lesions. Laboratory tests confirmed acute Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) and cytomegalovirus (CMV) co-infection, an uncommon EM trigger. Treatment with acyclovir and prednisone led to complete resolution within two weeks, with no recurrence after a year. While HSV and Mycoplasma are well-documented causes, dual EBV/CMV infection in pediatric EM remains extremely rare. This case emphasizes the need for careful diagnosis, early therapeutic intervention and a multidisciplinary approach, especially in children presenting with oral and skin lesions.
