Resumo: This case report presents the use of photobiomodulation (PBM) and antimicrobial photodynamic therapy (aPDT) to manage complications from oral cancer treatment. A 61-year-old male patient, previously treated surgically for tongue cancer, developed an advanced mandibular lesion diagnosed as squamous cell carcinoma. He underwent chemotherapy and 34 radiotherapy sessions without additional surgery. During treatment, complications such as mucositis, radiodermatitis, and xerostomia were managed with PBM (GEMINI EVO - 1.0 W, 30 J extraoral; 0.3 W, 1.2 J intraoral per point, three times per week) and oral care protocols. After radiotherapy, oral rehabilitation included dental extractions followed by aPDT to prevent osteoradionecrosis and decontaminate lesions. PBM was also applied for hyposalivation, helping relieve discomfort and support mucosal recovery. The combined use of PBM and aPDT proved effective in reducing adverse effects, promoting healing, and enhancing quality of life. This case highlights the value of laser therapies as supportive strategies in oral oncology.
