Título: HEMATOLOGICAL MARKERS IN THE PROGNOSTIC FACTORS OF MALIGNANT SALIVARY GLAND TUMORS: PRELIMINARY RESULTS

Nome do Apresentador: Ana Laura de Andrade

Categoria do Trabalho: Painel de pesquisa científica (PPC)

Área Temática: Estomatologia

Resumo: Objective: To evaluate the neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio (NLR) and platelet/lymphocyte ratio (PLR) of preoperative blood tests of patients undergoing resection of mucoepidermoid carcinoma (MEC), adenoid cystic carcinoma (ACC) and polymorphous adenocarcinoma (PAC) and assess their correlations with clinical and histopathological prognostic data. Study design: NLR and PLR were collected directly from the medical records of patients treated for MEC, ACC and PAC in major or oral minor salivary glands. Cutoff values used for these markers were those previously established in the literature by Brkic et al. (2019): 2 for NLR and 150 for PLR. Based on this, a descriptive analysis was performed. Results: In a group of 36 patients, 63% showed NLR and 36% with PLR above the cutoff values. Of the cases with high NLR, 47.8% were MEC, 43.4% ACC and 8% PAC. Of the 13 deaths in the sample, 84.6% had high NLR and 53.8% had high PLR. Overall, 75% of the high microscopic grade tumors had high NLR and 50% had high PLR. Of the 20 cases with perineural invasion, 80% had high NLR. Conclusion: These preliminary results show that NLR appears to be more closely related to a worse clinical and microscopic prognosis than PLR.
