Título: SHEAR WAVE ELASTOGRAPHY OF SALIVARY GLANDS IN SJÖGREN'S DISEASE: A SYSTEMATIC REVIEW AND META-ANALYSIS

Resumo: Objective: Patients with Sjögren's Disease (SD) usually develop fibrosis in the salivary glands, a pathological change that can be assessed noninvasively using elastography. The aim of this study was to review and perform a meta-analysis of the diagnostic performance of shear wave elastography (SWE) for evaluating salivary glands in patients with SD classified according to the 2016 ACR/EULAR criteria. Study Design: Searches were conducted in six databases, supplemented by manual screening and gray literature, including cross-sectional and diagnostic accuracy studies. The risk of bias was assessed using the Joana Briggs Institute tool. Results: Eleven studies, comprising 1.029 individuals, being 530 diagnosed with SD and 499 controls, were included. Meta-analysis showed significantly higher SWE values in SD patients, with parotid elastography demonstrating higher diagnostic accuracy than submandibular elastography (82.9% vs. 73.1%). Conclusion: SWE effectively differentiated SD patients from healthy controls, particularly when assessing the parotid gland. Standardization of SWE protocols may improve diagnostic accuracy and support clinical integration.
