Resumo: Corticosteroids are anti-inflammatory agents widely used in the treatment of inflammatory conditions, including allergic reactions. In Dentistry, they are often employed as an adjunct during the adaptation period following prosthetic rehabilitation, helping to reduce the effects of inflammatory fibrous hyperplasia. Immediate hypersensitivity reactions to topical corticosteroids are rare, with delayed reactions, often associated with systemic use, being more common. This report describes the case of a 73-year-old leucoderma female patient, with hypertension and type 2 diabetes, who presented an immediate hypersensitivity reaction induced by topical triamcinolone acetonide. The patient reported that symptoms appeared after the second application of the ointment. Symptoms included gingival, facial, and submandibular edema, difficulty swallowing, and mucosal burning. She sought emergency care and was advised to discontinue the ointment. Symptomatic therapy was prescribed. Upon dental reevaluation five days later, only mild erythema remained in the areas where the ointment had been applied.
