Título: ANALYSIS OF THE PREVALENCE AND RISK FACTORS OF ACTINIC CHEILITIS IN OCCUPATIONAL GROUPS WITH SUN EXPOSURE

Nome do Apresentador: Gislayne Nunes de SIQUEIRA

Categoria do Trabalho: Painel de pesquisa científica (PPC)

Área Temática: Dermatologia

Resumo: Objective: The aim of this research is to clinically categorize Actinic Cheilitis (AC) into four clinical stages and to assess its prevalence, sun exposure and protection habits among three groups of workers. Study Design: An observational, exploratory, descriptive, and cross-sectional clinical study with a quantitative approach, involving 90 workers (farmers, beach workers, and motorcycle taxi drivers). A validated questionnaire was applied for data collection. Results: 88.9% of participants remain exposed to the sun for approximately six hours a day; however, only 10% use lip sunscreen and 98.9% had never heard of AC. Farmers showed a higher prevalence in the seventh decade of life and a lower frequency of photoprotection. Motorcyclists and beach workers, predominantly in the fifth decade of life, reported more frequent photoprotection habits. The analysis of the association between occupation and the degree of AC showed statistical significance in the advanced stages (Grades III and IV) among farmers (p = 0.02). Grade I was more prevalent among motorcyclists, while Grade II predominated among beach workers. Conclusion: Given the malignant transformation potential of AC, the high level of unawareness about this condition reinforces the need for educational and preventive strategies aimed at workers with occupational exposure to solar radiation.
