Resumo: A 23-year-old male with no significant past medical history presented to the emergency department with a sore throat. He tested negative for Streptococcus (group A strep) and sexually transmitted infections. The patient was discharged the same day with a prescription for non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. Due to persistent symptoms, he was referred to the Oral Medicine Clinic. The intraoral examination revealed erythema of the posterior oropharyngeal wall and enlarged tonsils. An avid e-cigarette user, he often took maximum puffs from his device daily and regularly smoked marijuana. He was diagnosed with pharyngitis secondary to vaping. The patient was instructed to discontinue vaping until his next visit. At the 1-month follow-up, he reported quitting vaping, continuing to smoke marijuana, with complete resolution of his symptoms. This case highlights the importance of documenting patients vaping habits to establish a diagnosis and emphasizes the need for health professionals to educate patients about e-cigarettes.
