Título: Reactive Osseous Chondromatous Metaplasia in the Alveolar Ridge

Resumo: Reactive osseous and chondromatous metaplasia is an uncommon lesion in the oral cavity, characterized by the atypical growth of bone and cartilaginous tissue in soft tissue. This lesion is often associated with chronic local irritation and is benign in nature. In this case, a 71-year-old female patient presented with an abnormal lesion on her edentulous alveolar ridge in the region corresponding to the upper right canine. Clinical examination revealed a well-circumscribed nodular lesion, firm consistency, and covered by normal mucosa. No calcified tissue were identified during evaluation of the panoramic radiograph. Excisional biopsy was performed and histopathological examination revealed dense fibrous connective tissue with regions of mature bone and cartilaginous tissue. This lead the diagnosis of reactive osseous and chondromatous metaplasia. This case underscores the importance of integrating clinical, radiographic, and histopathological data to establish an accurate diagnosis of reactive lesions in the oral cavity.
