Resumo: A 61-year-old Caucasian female was referred to the Stomatology Service following a dental consultation for the fabrication of a new upper removable partial denture (RPD). In 2020, she had been diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) on the right posterior border of the tongue, which was surgically treated in 2021. In February 2024, she presented with slow-healing aphthous ulcers and, by August, reported dysphagia. During the examination, a lesion was observed at the same site, featuring a hardened swelling with an erythematous, painful posterior-medial border. A biopsy confirmed SCC; however, early diagnosis allowed for a more favorable prognosis. Histopathological analysis revealed epithelial hyperplasia, loss of cellular organization, pleomorphism, atypical mitoses, invasion of connective tissue, and intense inflammation. Timely intervention enabled prompt referral for appropriate oncological treatment, underscoring the importance of continuous follow-up in patients with this history. This case highlights how early detection positively impacts disease management and patient survival.
