Título: DIFFERENTIAL DIAGNOSIS OF LABIAL VASCULAR LESION IN A PEDIATRIC PATIENT: CASE REPORT

Nome do Apresentador: Maria Eduarda Cardoso INÁCIO

Categoria do Trabalho: Painel de caso clínico (PCC)

Área Temática: Estomatologia

Resumo: A 13-year-old female patient presented with a erythematous, sessile, asymptomatic, well-defined nodule, on the left lower lip. The lesion had a smooth surface and had been evolving for five months. There was no history of trauma to the affected region. Diascopy showed a positive result for a vascular component lesion. Pyogenic granuloma and capillary hemangioma were considered as diagnostic hypotheses. An excisional biopsy was performed, and histopathological analysis revealed an oral mucosa lined by ulcerated hyperplastic orthokeratinized stratified squamous epithelium. Beneath the epithelial lining, abundant granulation tissue rich in blood capillaries, organized in a lobular pattern, was observed, along with a predominantly mononuclear inflammatory infiltrate. The final diagnosis of the lesion was pyogenic granuloma. After three months of clinical follow-up, no signs of recurrence were observed. This case underscores the importance of a thorough clinical evaluation of vascular lesions and their correlation with histopathological findings to ensure an accurate diagnosis.
