Título: Debilitating Oral Burn Caused by Potassium Hydroxide: A Case Report

Resumo: We report a debilitating case of oral chemical burn caused by potassium hydroxide (KOH), a corrosive base. A 50-year-old man presented to Oral Medicine Service after occupational exposure to KOH. Despite prior evaluations, no effective management had been initiated. He reported intense pain and impaired oral functions. Clinical examination revealed diffuse ulcerations affecting labial semimucosa, mucosa, and dorsal tongue. Photobiomodulation therapy was selected for analgesia and tissue repair. Treatment used a THOR LX2 with red (660 nm, 80 mW × 18) and near-infrared (850 nm, 60 mW × 23) LED lollipop probe, with total output 2800 mW. The probe was applied to four sites for 180s each. The energy density (fluence) delivered per site was 25.2 J/cm² and the photonic fluence was 43.5 p.J/cm² or 9.7 Einstein. Rapid improvement followed, with complete mucosal healing in two weeks and return to work one week after therapy began.
