Área Temática: Patologia Oral

Resumo: Ameloblastic fibroma is a rare mixed odontogenic tumor composed of ectomesenchymal
tissue resembling the dental papilla and the epithelial component similar to the early
enamel organ without dental hard tissue. A 14-year-old male patient was referred after a
dental procedure revealed a radiolucent, multilocular lesion with radiopaque cortical
in the mental region on panoramic radiography. Cone-beam computed tomography
confirmed cortical expansion of the buccal bone plate. Pulp vitality testing showed positive
responses in all affected teeth. An incisional biopsy
was performed and sent to histopathological analysis. Microscopically, islands and strands
of odontogenic epithelium with peripheral columnar palisaded cells and sometimes,
containing component of stellate reticulum-like tissue were observed. Additionally, a
collagenous capsula was present and no dental hard tissue was detected. The final diagnosis
was ameloblastic fibroma. Complete surgical removal was performed, and no recurrence
was observed after one year of follow-up. This case highlights the importance of early
diagnosis and appropriate management of ameloblastic fibroma to prevent complications.
