Resumo: A 77-year-old male patient diagnosed with posterior squamous cell carcinoma of the tongue, with diabetes mellitus, chronic renal failure, and hypertension, was treated with radiotherapy and cetuximab. During multimodal treatment, after the second infusion of cetuximab and the 11th session of radiotherapy, the patient developed an acneiform rash on the face and chest, followed by cervical ulcers, erosions and ulcers in the oral cavity, erythromycin and low-dose systemic corticoids (5mg/day) were prescribed to treat the moist skin lesions, and photobiomodulation and mouthwash with 0.1% clobetasol propionate were used twice a day for the extensive aphthous stomatitis. The clinical picture of signs and symptoms was completely resolved 20 days after the end of treatment. We conclude that target therapy presents more serious side effects compared to platinum derivatives and greater treatment management challenges.
