Título: NATAL TOOTH IN A PREMATURE NEWBORN WITH PATAU SYNDROME: CASE REPORT AND CLINICAL CONSIDERATIONS

Nome do Apresentador: Marcus BUENO

Categoria do Trabalho: Painel de caso clínico (PCC)

Área Temática: Odontologia hospitalar

Resumo: Patau Syndrome (PS) is a rare genetic condition with a prevalence of 1 in 5.000 live births. Natal teeth are uncommon but can occur in these patients, posing a risk of bronchoaspiration. A female patient, diagnosed with PS confirmed by karyotype testing, was admitted to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at two days old, receiving ambient air and orogastric tube feeding. Clinical examination revealed the presence of two natal lower central incisors with significant mobility and a risk of bronchoaspiration. Tooth extraction was performed under local anesthesia under controlled conditions in the NICU. The presence of natal teeth in patients with PS is rare, with no description in the literature, requiring immediate dental evaluation and intervention, especially due to the risk of bronchoaspiration. An interdisciplinary approach in a hospital setting is essential to ensure patient safety and prevent complications that could worsen the clinical condition.
