Título: Factitial Oral Ulcer in an Autistic Child: A Case Report

Resumo: Self-Injurious Behavior (SIB) refers to deliberate self-inflicted harm to the body that can result in factitial injuries. Approximately 70% of individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) exhibit some form of SIB, with the head and neck regions being commonly affected. We report the case of an 11-year-old boy diagnosed with ASD who presented with a painful oral lesion. Intraoral examination revealed a painful ulcer on the upper labial mucosa. The caregiver denied any history of recent trauma to the area. Given the clinical presentation, an incisional biopsy was performed under local anesthesia and sedation to rule out neoplasia or deep fungal infection. Histopathological analysis confirmed the diagnosis of a traumatic ulcer. Management of factitial oral lesions requires a multidisciplinary approach and the active collaboration of the patient, their caregivers, healthcare providers, and the broader medical team.
