Título: SQUAMOUS CELL CARCINOMA ON THE GINGIVAL RIDGE OF A PATIENT WITH LIVER DISEASE: CASE REPORT

Nome do Apresentador: Mariana Resende BRAGA

Categoria do Trabalho: Painel de caso clínico (PCC)

Área Temática: Estomatologia

Resumo: A 60-year-old male patient, smoker for 42 years, diabetic, hypertensive, severe liver disease, wheelchair user. He came to the dental service due to severe pain in his lower teeth. Anamnesis revealed liver cirrhosis resulting in thrombocytopenia, and other systemic diseases under medical control. The intra-oral physical examination revealed poor oral health, an irregular, ill-defined granulomatous tumor lesion on the lower anterior gingival ridge in the lingual region, which had appeared one year previously after a dental procedure, and mobility of the related teeth. A periapical radiograph was taken, showing bone loss characteristic of moth gnawing. Despite being thrombocytopenic (105,000/ml), an incisional biopsy was carried out and the anatomopathological analysis showed pleomorphic stratified squamous epithelial cells, hyperchromatic, invading connective tissue, with atypical mitosis figures and keratin pearls, compatible with a diagnosis of Squamous Cell Carcinoma in the anterior inferior gingival ridge. The patient was referred to municipality for oncology treatment.
