Resumo: Plexiform schwannoma is a rare variant of schwannoma, characterized by a multinodular growth pattern. We report the case of a 25-year-old woman who presented with a well-circumscribed nodular mass on the dorsal surface of the tongue, measuring 1.5 cm, with a 12-month history. Based on clinical characteristics, the initial hypothesis was lipoma. An excisional biopsy was performed, and histopathological examination revealed multiple nodules of benign neural proliferation, composed of compact spindle-shaped cells (Antoni A pattern) with tapered nuclei and elongated cytoplasm, arranged in a palisading pattern, forming Verocay bodies. Hypocellular, loosely arranged, and myxoid areas (Antoni B pattern) were also observed. The nodules were surrounded by a thin fibrous capsule, and vascular walls exhibited thickening and hyalinization. Immunohistochemical analysis showed strong S-100 protein expression in tumor cells, while CD34 was negative. The final diagnosis was plexiform schwannoma. The patient remains under follow-up with no signs of recurrence.
