Resumo: A 56-year-old male patient who had undergone radiotherapy four years previously for a squamous cell carcinoma in the right cervical lymph nodes with an occult primary. He was undergoing dental treatment and complained of pain related to lower right first molar. A radiographic and tomographic examination showed a fissure in the pulp chamber floor and external root resorption. The patient used Pentoxifylline and Tocopherol for 14 days, the tooth was extracted atraumatically and the medication was maintained for a further 14 days. In addition, daily applications of aPdT (5 times a week) were carried out until the alveolus closed during 2 months. The alveolus closed completely and the patient showed no signs of infection during 3 months of follow-up.
