Resumo: Subgemmal neurogenous plaques (SNPs) are biphasic neural structures typically located on the posterolateral border of the tongue and may become symptomatic, presenting as focal burning sensations. We report the case of a 54-year-old female patient who presented with a three-month history of a burning sensation on the tongue. Her medical history was unremarkable, and she denied alcohol or tobacco use. Intraoral examination revealed a slight nodular enlargement on the right posterolateral border of the tongue, near the foliate papillae. An excisional biopsy was performed under local anesthesia, and the specimen was submitted for histopathological analysis. Microscopic examination confirmed the diagnosis of a subgemmal neurogenous plaque. The patient's postoperative recovery was uneventful, and no signs of recurrence have been observed during follow-up.
