Resumo: Objective: The objective of this study was to evaluate the prevalence of oral and maxillofacial cysts over a period of 10 years in the Pathology laboratory.
Study design: A survey of data archived in the Pathology laboratory was carried out from August 2011 to August 2021. Through observational, longitudinal and retrospective analysis of histopathological reports whose sample was approximately 2000 cysts.
Results: The analysis of the profile of patients with cysts was performed using descriptive statistics. Categorical variables were described as absolute and relative frequencies, and age as mean, standard deviation, minimum and maximum age. All analyses were performed with the aid of the statistical analysis software R.(R Core Team, 2023).
Conclusion: It is concluded that there is no relationship between age, sex and location to present lesions. Cysts diagnosed of both odontogenic and non-odontogenic origin, most are found in routine examinations, through clinical characteristics or radiographic findings.
