Título: PREVENTIVE METHODS FOR MEDICATION RELATED OSTEONECROSIS OF THE JAWS ON IMPLANT DENTISTRY: A SCOPING REVIEW

Resumo: The review research question was: What are the preventive methods for medication-related osteonecrosis of the jaw in Implant Dentistry?
Methods: Was followed the recommendations of the Joanna Briggs Institute for scoping reviews, and writing adhered to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Review and Meta-analysis (PRISMA), and the PRISMA for Scoping Reviews (PRISMA-ScR). Electronic literature was carried out up to April, 2024 in MEDLINE/PubMed, Scopus, LILACS, Web of Science, and Embase. The grey literature search was carried out in OpenGrey, Google Scholar and ProQuest. Two independent researchers conducted the selection process following the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Qualitative synthesis was performed from the included studies.
Results: From 3800 studies identified, 26 were included. MRONJ has been reported in 11. The preventive method reported were: antiresorptive and antiangiogenic medication drug-holiday (n = 17), antibiotic prophylaxis (n = 22), CTX test (n = 10), plasma rich on factor growth (PRGF) (n = 3), platelet rich in fibrin (PRF) (n = 1), antimicrobial dynamic phototherapy (a-PDT) (n = 2), diode laser (n = 1), and ozone therapy (n = 1).
Conclusion: The preventive methods for MRONJ in Implant Dentistry, available at literature, are not defined, although, a-PDT and PRGF showed promising methods on this field.
